Protection of Personal Information
Basic Policy on the Protection of Personal Information (Privacy Policy)
The YG Health Insurance Society is committed to appropriately protecting information relating to its insured members and dependents (hereinafter referred to as “Members”) that identifies, or can be used to identify, a specific individual (hereinafter referred to as “Personal Information”). To this end, the Society implements the following measures.
- The Society endeavors to prevent the leakage, loss, or damage of Personal Information acquired from Members, as well as unauthorized access to such Personal Information, by implementing appropriate security control measures.
- The Society uses Personal Information provided by Members only for purposes that are considered beneficial to Members, including the maintenance and promotion of their health. Individual Numbers are used only for the specific purposes identified within the scope permitted under the Act on the Use of Numbers to Identify a Specific Individual in Administrative Procedures.
- The Society will not provide Members’ Personal Information to any third party without obtaining the prior consent of the relevant Member, except as otherwise permitted by law.
Personal Information that contains an Individual Number (hereinafter referred to as “Specific Personal Information”) will not be provided to any third party, regardless of whether the individual has given consent, except in cases permitted under the Act on the Use of Numbers to Identify a Specific Individual in Administrative Procedures.
However, with respect to Personal Information that does not constitute Specific Personal Information, the Society may provide such information to a third party without the prior consent of the Member where any of the items of Article 27, paragraph (1) of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of May 30, 2003) apply. - The Society provides education and awareness training to its officers and employees regarding the protection of Personal Information. The Society also appoints a person responsible for the management of Personal Information and endeavors to ensure its proper handling and management.
- When outsourcing any of its operations, the Society reviews and improves its outsourcing arrangements with due consideration for the protection of Personal Information. When entering into outsourcing agreements, the Society carefully examines the suitability of the contractor and ensures that the terms of the agreement appropriately address the protection of Personal Information.
- If a Member wishes to request disclosure, correction, or other handling of their Personal Information, the Member may contact the Society’s designated contact point below. The Society will respond promptly within a reasonable scope.
- The Society complies with all laws, regulations, and other applicable standards relating to the handling of Members’ Personal Information, and continuously reviews and improves this Privacy Policy.
